Centre for Arts and Technology (CAT), a PTIB designated college with 20 years of history in Kelowna, is pleased to announce four winners have been selected for the Centre’s inaugural Create Your Future Scholarship. This scholarship offers a unique opportunity for high school students to vie for a full tuition award that can be applied toward one of four programs at the college. After submitting a portfolio and personal video statement, the four top applicants were chosen by a panel made up of instructional staff from the Centre and working professionals from the local community. The top applicant, Sani Supinen was awarded the full scholarship and will be taking the 18 month Professional Filmmaking program at the Centre starting this October. CAT looks forward to offering this scholarship annually, and CAT President, Jeremy Sabell, had this to share:

“For over 20 years in Kelowna and over 40 years in BC, Centre for Arts and Technology has been proud to work with countless gifted artists and creators from across Western Canada, helping them achieve their career aspirations. With this year’s launch of our Create Your Future scholarship we should have known what to expect, but we were still pleasantly surprised by the quality and diversity of the submissions. It is truly uplifting and inspiring to know that there is so much passion and talent in the creative arts throughout Canada, and we feel privileged that we can provide a learning environment in which that talent can develop, not just for the scholarship applicants but for all students who choose to start their career journeys with us. Congratulations to the winners! We’ll see you very soon.”

Congratulations go to the top recipient, Sani Supinen. Her unique portfolio and personal statement captivated the judges, edging out other close competition. Sani had this to say when asked about her accomplishment, “I am so beyond grateful to have received such an incredible, life-changing award. A big thanks to the team at CAT for making the application process as smooth as possible with my video submissions, it means the world!”

Further congratulations go to the three $5000 scholarship recipients: Julian Lamprecht (2D Animation & Digital Art), Emmalee Klettke (2D Animation & Digital Art), and Connor Robertson (Professional Filmmaking).
